Moving toward Difference.

Ok. Had enough. In order to achieve my goals in this poultry life there are a few things I require and which only I can achieve. Firstly is a core fitness, one which I can get to easily enough but which I can then improve on. I am 46 years old on Monday and weigh 87k. I have high blood pressure and my skin is awfull. I drink too much alcohol and so will cut this to 4 units/day except Tue and Thurs when I won't drink any at all. This will help me sleep better as well. My asthma is bad at moment and I want to get off the anti depressants.

I want more achievable income. I was a graphic designer for 15 years and am planning to get back into it, in web and logo design. I will take up coding and learn Flux 4 for web design (free trial then £89). All this I can do from home using my own experience and talent instead of some half arsed 'internet scam' scheme.

I aim to measure, record and blog achievement to help the old motivation. I feel old before my time, I am ONLY 46 but I have torn the arse out of it for way too long. I can barely get up for work, come home as soon as poss and after tea spend the rest of my evening on the couch till I ache, then go to bed...and repeat....and repeat.

Come the better light I'll get out for some walks and knock the garden and greenhouse into shape (herbs and veg in border, toms, chillis, etc in green house)

Wish me luck...

A Dream

Woke up today (Hurrah!!) with Christine saying "How's the jaw?" I paused and thought 'how can she know I've been fighting...wait, that was a dream...' "What do you mean?" I asked. She told me I had kept her awake for about an hour while I was grinding my teeth, tossing and turning. I told her of my dream:

We had both been at a concert. The hall felt like an old school hall: Musty smell, wooden floor, high stage and we all sat in cheap plastic seats with metal legs. Our seats were at the side beside an exit that had no door. Looking up the exit, it was dark and eerie.

The band played. They had a kinda punky/R and B feel: a lot like Dr Feelgood. There was a lot of tension in the air. I had to go to the toilet and after I'd zipped up, I went to wash my hands but a large, heavy built guy shouldered me out of the way of the sink so he could wash his hands first. All the time, eyeballing me.

Not long after I got back to my seat we heard a fight break out up the dark corridor of the exit. I could see a good pal of mine taking a kicking. I stood up, picked up my chair and threw it at the assailant to not much affect.

The band now thought I was causing trouble and shined a bright stage light right in my eyes. I couldn't see a thing but I could hear things getting a lot worse in the hall and I was being hit and jostled in the panic.

When I was finally able to see, a man clutching a young child ran passed as the child vomited violently in an arc to the ground. There was talk of a germ affecting people.

Now another old friend of mine said "look at this..." In his hands he held a strange white object. He told me to watch the exit. As I did, I saw a large vampire (Dracula type) emerge from the dark. Immediately had it done so, my friend threw the object at it. In mid air, the object opened up into a large white bear trap type object which impaled the vampire and turned it to dust...

Fin

I asked Christine to look the dream up in her dream encyclopedia. She did, I'm fucked.

Hush...

I remember staying at my Granny and Aunty Ann's house at Beeches Road in Blairgowrie. I must have been very young as the memory is of a lullaby my Granny sang. I would lie in the single bed (no duvets) in those days (early 70's), just lots of blankets.  Car headlights from the street would occasionally search across the wall and ceiling of the bedroom as my Granny sang. Now and then I would hear a merry couple walk and trip along in the street below, chatting and laughing. I Have searched for the recording of this song for years and only today found it on youtube by Evelyn Griffiths and THE Charles Hawtrey (of Carry On fame). Anyway some twenty five years later I found myself singing a version of the chorus to my first daughter Caitlin, with the alteration: 'now you children, run up the stairs' changed to 'now little Caitlin, run up the stairs', and then 'Molly' and then 'Molly and Ruby'! at which point the line became slightly cumbersome. However, it was a guid ane and was often requested...enjoy...
